§Middle East

Nebuchadnezzar is the king of Babylon.

Jehoiachin succeeded Jehoiakim as King of Judah. Nebuchadnezzar took Jerusalem.

Jehoiakim reigned for eleven years, until 598 BCE and was succeeded by his son Jeconiah, (also known as Jehoiachin), who reigned for only three months.

Edwin Thiele dates Jeconiah's reign of three months and ten days to 598/597 BC. According to 2 Chronicles 36:9, he became king upon the death of his father, Jehoiakim, at the age of eighteen. However, 2 Kings 24:8, in some Hebrew manuscripts, state that he became king at the age of eight.
